In 1905 Guiseppe and Maria Padulo left their families, friends and their home in Calabria, Italy, to come to Canada with hopes of establishing a better life for themselves and their family.
In 1935 they established the first Italian grocery store in Montreal, which was situated in this very location. "Jos Padulo & Sons" offered a variety of typical Italian products and at the same time helped and employed many of today's most prosperous Italians.
